Summer in July! 2012

July this year was not our normal July! We couldn't really do any of the normal things. Because of all the fires happening... and it wasn't just ours, they have been everywhere! We didn't light off many fireworks. We had a few at Nancy's house, the little ones in front of the house. We had Brandon and Shaylah in town so we had a "stay-cation" which was a lot of fun with all the cousins.
I'm amazed at how big our little family has gotten on Brett's side of the family!!!
Over the 4th we took some cute pictures of the kids in their red, white and blue!!!
Here's the current pictures of the Dansie Grand kids. Aren't they adorable?
And my two little boys! Brett buzzed Isaac's head for him because Rachel was out on baby leave.
And I don't like to post too  many pics of prego, but I thought our little 4th of July family picture turned out pretty cute!
The kids eating their pop cycles... we ate a lot of them this summer!
Thanks to Pinterest, we made some sidewalk paint for the kids to play with.

They seemed to enjoy it!
We went swimming with all of Brett's family at Cord and Janine's pool. It was so fun. Brett talked me into taking Dax down their slide. I was so worried Brett wouldn't catch him, we slid down, I was trying to touch the bottom (which I couldn't), I pushed him up into the air realizing I couldn't see because my maternity skirt went up over my head! Ah! Brett talks me into the strangest things.
Mona days fell over the same time Brett and Isaac went to Lagoon, so we didn't get to do that this year. But over the 24th we had a few restrictions lifted and did get to enjoy some fireworks in our backyard. Rach and Gord brought some over, we had treats, watched Bob's big firework show and almost watched Dax get burned by being to close to an out of control firework... ah! It was still fun though.
We made sticky popcorn balls... mmm! A favorite around here!
The 3 boys were crazy. Dax was laughing so hard at the fireworks!
Rach stayed snuggled up with Kazden!
Why I take scary pictures of myself 8 months pregnant is beyond me... but there ya go. Proof I am very pregnant and swollen from this HOT summer heat!
Gordon gave the kids sparklers. Dax was so cute. He would stand there with the cutest expression and watch his little sparkler flicker. It was the sweetest thing!
Isaac and Zander were insane bouncing around with their sparklers. But that is to be expected of a 6 and 7 year old boy!

Happy 24th! 2011

Every 24th we go to Mona. Every year I post the same pictures... but my kids are slightly older. But I don't care. It's a fun tradition and the kiddies love it! (Even though Daxton's face doesn't show it, he did love it!)

We watched the parade, Dax did not like being confined in the stroller nor did he want his picture taken.
We let Dax out and he was happy as a clam sitting with dad.
And of course sitting with grandpa!
Here is the classic "side of the road while watching the parade with cousins" picture. But see, they are all getting bigger and so cute!
Dax did loved the horses. He "neighed" at them. He didn't care much about the parade after he grabbed his first couple pieces of candy. He kept brining the salt water to grandpa to open and he didn't, so finally he took matter into his own hands and started chowing down, wrapper and all! He was thrilled for the rest of the time with his otter pop and few pieces of candy.
They threw a lot more candy this year and Isaac was good at gathering up enough for him and his brother!
We were smart this year and went to the face painting booth early! Only a 10 minute wait vs hours. Isaac chose spiderman. He looked pretty cool. We could have gotten his entire face painted, but I vetoed that cause I know kids get hot, sweaty, and rub their hands all over their face!
We went on a little carriage ride to see the pioneer cabin in Mona. Brett has seen it more then enough in his life time but he came with me (kicking and screaming.) It was a loooooong ride and very hot. But since when do I listen to Brett? I got a cute picture out of it! Or so I thought. The lady who took or picture obviously didn't know what she was doing. At least most of us our in the picture.  This was one of the better ones.
I'm hoping there is a year I don't have to ride the kids train, but Dax made me come. I was hoping the kids could just hold him but I was so glad I went. The driver was a bit crazy this year and I would have bet money Dax would have popped right out of the train ride if I hadn't been holding him.
The kids played on the blow-up toys again! (We forgot socks and were lectured by Isaac that it was a mistake to wear crocks and his feet were very burning!)
Isaac loves his bike. He wants to take it with him everywhere he goes. Isaac helped him pop some wheelies while we were waiting for the races to start.
Isaac ran fast in all the mobs of children and got his dollar! We didn't stick around for dinner, this year we went home early and went to my moms for fireworks. As a side note, we thought the boys would sleep on the way home. We were wrong. They had a screaming competition. Back and forth they tried to see who could be the loudest screamer in the car. (Bet you wish you were in our car then!)
We were with all my family and some of Rachel's in-laws. The kids had a blast! Fireworks seem to make them crazy and hyper.
Unlike Liz and Casey, who took a nap through part of the show.
This picture has nothing to do with anything, but it reminds me how much I love my husband. I love long days of being together with him!
It was a great day! Dax got a fever by the end of the night, but other then that, we had a blast!

Mona Day Celebration! 2009

The Saturday after the 24th of July, we went to Mona (like we always do) to celebrate the 24th. We went to the parade... (though it was not as nearly as impressive as it has been in the past, but it was fun to see the sheep and a baby pony in the parade!)

Isaac, Lulu, Squiggle, and Buddy waiting for candy to be thrown!

They had several blow-ups and bouncy houses this year which kept the kids entertained for a while. Isaac loved shooting hoops with his dad!

Isaac had his older cousin, Lulu watching after him for me. She would take him inside all the bouncy houses making sure he was safe and looked after. She's such a little mother! I love her.

Sadly, they didn't have ponies to ride this year but they had their "train" which is really a four-wheeler polling the kids around it carts, but it's still very fun for the kiddos! Here is Isaac, Breah, and Squiggle waiting for train... 2 of them weren't paying attention to me while I snapped their picture but you can tell the sweet little child in the middle (Breah) has pictures being taken of her several times throughout the day! I love her little pose!

Here are the kids going on the train ride with Aunt Shaylah. I realize, Isaac looks a little terrified, I'm not sure why... he was fine and I was told he enjoyed the ride!

Isaac ran in the Mona Races for the first time this year. It's a very short distance with a million little people standing behind a hose waiting for a man to yell, "GO!" Brett accused me of holding Isaac back and told me he got a late start... in my defense, I couldn't hear anything, I just told Isaac to run when we saw everyone else going! Next year, I'm sure we will do better!

He still ran his little heart out, I was very proud of him!

And he got a $1.00!
How exciting, I didn't even know they would get a little prize, he was thrilled!

My two boys, I think they are the cutest things!
It wasn't nearly as hot as we are used to (which I was very grateful for!) But I was still very thankful for the fireman who turned on the water in the fire-truck to cool everyone down, I enjoyed that.

I'm thankful we have Grandma Mona's house to run to and help break-up the day. It's fun sitting outside under her giant trees and letting the kids play in the shade. Isaac had recently bought some goggles with his own money (which he's been wanting and pining over since swimming lessons) and he got to test them out in the sprinklers at grandma's. It was very entertaining!
