Mona Day Celebration!

Saturday was our Mona day celebration! It's an all day extravaganza from sun up to sun down! We got there at 9:30 to get ready for the parade at 10 am.

The parade was a very fun small town parade. They threw a ton of candy which Isaac collected in his little bucket. He waived at the kids, people, horse, and the group of sheep! (sheep in a parade! Yup, small town!)

After the parade we were walking around deciding on what "rides" to take the kids on first. We happened to stumble upon this baseball field. LaMonte told me to put my hand over my heart because we were walking on sacred ground. A legend was made here! We were back to LaMonte's old stompin' grounds were he played a lot of baseball games as 3rd basemen. We stopped to take a picture of this historical moment. One day this picture will be in the Hall of Fame!

We rode on the "train", which is really some carts hooked to a four wheeler. It takes you around the little town of Mona... the kids love it! It's pretty fun and pretty bumpy! It is a great way to cool off though, it was sooo hot! Then every year they always have these darling little pony rides. Usually the lines are so long and Isaac was too scared last year, but admired the pony's from a far. Well this year he was so excited! This is Isaac and Sally (the pony.) He thought Sally was such a nice horse he didn't want to get off her when his turn was over. He looked like such a little man up on this little pony!

It's like riding is in his genes! Brett has always wanted him to ride a horse... now he really wants him to have the cowboy boots to go with it!

The next thing we did was the bouncy toys! They have a ton of them. Isaac had his eye on this giant slide but he couldn't climb up by himself. I would get him to the top and then he was very insistent that I let him go! He wanted to be like all the other big kids and fly down by himself! 

He really had no fear. Even if he would tumble at the end, he would jump right up and want to do it all over again! He loved it!

And of course, the bouncy house! I thought there would be too many kids in there for him to jump but after a few left he was bouncing all over the place. Lulu was so sweet to hold his hands and jump but he got the hang of it quick and got some air for a little boy! (See him in the back)

And no trip is complete until we play with Grandma Mona's toys. Her tea set is always a must. Isaac served everyone lemonade.

This was the first year we decided to stay until dark to watch the fireworks so to kill some time until 10 pm.... (yes, I know its late for a little boy!) I gave Isaac a tubby. Grandma Nancy couldn't resist combing his hair over to side like a handsome little boy. We had a good laugh, showed dad, and then Isaac rubbed his head and messed it up. (All for the better I guess!)

While we were waiting for the fireworks to start there was some loud country music playing. Nobody informed me that there was swing dancing!!! Of course, there is no way Brett was going with me - I miss going swing dancing with my friends. So now that I know, I will work on him and hope for next year! (haha) 

Isaac invented "the sleeping game" earlier in the week with Nancy. He has you lay down and he puts everyone to sleep then he screams and tells you to wake up! He gets a big kick out of you acting all startled. Well Isaac managed to get me, Brett, grandma, and grandpa to "sleep" and he snuck away and watched us four adults laying on the ground from a far! I'm sure it was quite the site, us 4 sleeping, late at night, with a two year old watching over us!

Finally the fireworks started (at dark is what we were told... 10 is when they started) It was worth the wait! Mona knows how to do such an amazing firework show that lasts and lasts! We have great seats in grandma's front yard and as we were watching them it's like they were right on top of you! This is the first year Isaac has gotten to see the BIG fireworks. I thought he would love them, which he did but in a very concerned sort of way. As they would boom Isaac would touch his jammies and say, "they going to get my jammies mom, they going to get me!" As well as they were going to get the car and they apparently hurt daddy too. I must have missed that. Now he's been going around saying, "fireworks say, BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!" as he shouts from the top of his lungs! But it was so fun and I'm glad we could be there for the whole day!
